Sandy loamy soils contain good amounts of organic material and are generally underlain by limestone bedrock. Soils are moderately acid, fertile and moisture-retentive, with fair drainage. Plants require good soil fertility and moisture, and tolerate shading and minor flooding. Drought and salt tolerance is minimal.
