Moist, moderately acid soils high in organic matter, usually bordering deeper wetlands and receiving water by seepage. Plants are tolerant of temporary flooding and some shade, require moderate soil fertility, good moisture supply, and don't tolerate drought or salt exposure. Many maritime hammock species occur in this community.
